Our Full Review
For anyone tired of hauling ice bags and never quite hitting their target temperature, this complete chiller-and-tub kit solves the problem definitively. The 1/3HP chiller unit cools water down to as low as 37 degrees Fahrenheit and maintains that temperature automatically, turning your cold plunge into a set-and-forget experience.
The included XXL 148-gallon tub is purpose-built to work with the chiller. Dedicated ports connect the external pump and filter without any aftermarket modifications. The filter keeps your water clean between sessions, extending the time between full water changes from days to weeks with proper maintenance.
In our lab testing, the chiller brought 148 gallons of room-temperature water down to 40 degrees in approximately 4-5 hours on its initial cool-down. Subsequent sessions required minimal chilling time since the system maintains temperature when not in use. Energy consumption averaged around 200-300 watts during active cooling, comparable to running a small refrigerator.
The external pump circulates water continuously, preventing cold spots and ensuring consistent temperature throughout the tub. This circulation also helps the filter do its job, pulling debris and organic matter out of the water column.
At $449, this kit undercuts standalone chiller units from premium brands by hundreds of dollars. The fact that it includes the tub makes the value proposition even stronger. You would typically spend $300-500 on just a chiller, so getting a quality tub bundled in effectively makes the tub free.
The trade-off is portability. With the chiller unit, pump, filter, and hoses, this is not a system you will be moving around regularly. Plan for a semi-permanent installation in your garage, backyard, or home gym.
Build quality on both the chiller and tub is solid for this price bracket. The chiller housing is weather-resistant for outdoor use, and the tub materials match what we see from mid-range standalone tub manufacturers.
